Vibe coding works best with a reviewable loop.
Vibe coding uses natural-language direction and AI coding tools to move from an idea to working software. Keep the speed; keep ownership of the code, tests, and decisions.
What vibe coding means
Vibe coding is a way to build software by describing an outcome, asking an AI tool to make changes, then steering the next step from what you see. The phrase covers a range of workflows, from a quick prototype to agent-assisted work in a maintained codebase.
A prompt does not replace a product decision, a code review, or a test. Treat generated changes as proposed work: inspect the diff, run relevant checks, and decide what belongs in the project.
A reliable vibe-coding workflow
A small feedback loop gives you useful speed without turning a plausible answer into assumed correctness.
- 01
Describe one outcome
Name the user-visible change, the relevant files or behavior, and any constraints the agent must preserve.
- 02
Work in the project
Use a coding agent with the repository context it needs. Keep permissions and provider credentials under your control.
- 03
Review the actual change
Read the diff. Compare it with the request. Ask the agent to explain decisions or correct gaps before expanding scope.
- 04
Run focused checks
Run the tests, type checks, or manual steps that cover the changed behavior. A successful agent message is not test evidence.
- 05
Check security-sensitive paths
Review authentication, authorization, inputs, dependencies, and secrets before merging or releasing.
Choose tools that leave the work visible
Some AI builders are designed to generate a hosted application from a prompt. Coding-agent workflows instead work in a repository through an editor or terminal. Pick the category that matches where your code lives and how you need to review it.
ProofStack is a local desktop workspace for installed coding CLIs. It brings agent terminals, task coordination, routines, and code checks into one place; provider access and usage remain with the provider account you configure.
- Use one agent for a bounded change when context and review are straightforward.
- Split work across agents only when ownership and file boundaries are clear.
- Use a separate verification step to check the resulting diff and evidence.
Keep human review in the loop
AI-generated code can be incomplete, incompatible with project conventions, or unsafe for its context. A scanner can surface certain known patterns; it cannot prove that code is secure or correct. The person responsible for the release still decides what evidence is enough.
